Mandeville Lacrosse

Head JV Coach and Varsity D Coordinator

Taylor Koppens was born in Louisiana and moved to upstate New York where he started playing lacrosse at a young age.  Growing up and playing in a very competitive lacrosse environment taught Coach Koppens the values of hard work, dedication, confidence and most of all – trust.  Coach Koppens has played and coached at many levels including youth, high school and college. He continues to play with different men’s teams. In reference to his coaching philosophy Coach Koppens states, “It is my belief that positive instruction in coaching achieves the best results. I feel that this philosophy got the best out of me as a player, and I plan to use this same tactic in my coaching career. I encourage my players to play their best at all times and leave everything out on the field, and when they do, they should keep their heads high no matter the outcome. Lacrosse is a sport, but to me, coaching isn’t always about the sport, it’s about the kid. I believe that engaging the human being and not the lacrosse player is what can bring the most out of someone. We have to prepare the right way in order to give us the best chance at a winning outcome. Hard work, positive attitudes, and a drive to be the best we can be are three things that can take Mandeville High School Lacrosse to the next level and achieve its vision. Believe in each other at all times and great things can happen!”
